Charting Course

There is a manifest destiny which guides all of us. It is like a "default setting" for life. We start off in a very specific place, and that initial environment defines the style and cycle of our entire future unless we choose to swim upstream, changing the destiny which was first made manifest to us.

You are driving home from work. By purposefully using a route which you would not usually take, you are altering your destiny, doing something which you wouldn't have done if you simply allowed the "default settings" of your life to guide you.

My rental lease was coming to an end. Would I stay where I was living, or would I take that opportunity to move somewhere else? I realized that by far the easiest option before me was to continue living where I already was living, but I also realized that by moving I could vastly change the environment of my life. Would I accept the "default" option, or would I manifest a new destiny?

It is foolish to hope to be extraordinary while living in an ordinary way. It is foolish to expect to get somewhere else without moving in another direction. We all have a destiny, but not every destiny is impressive. Those who accept the destiny handed to them seldom reach the same heights as those who forge a destiny for themselves which is contrary to the path of least resistance.

The strength to combat one's own natural tendencies by channeling them in a self-determined, unique direction is a sign of sound mindedness. For this reason, I find it most logical to always make it my first priority to avoid getting too set in my ways.

I don't want to let myself get "stuck in a rut," doing the same thing again and again without contemplating proactively how I can aid in my own reformation and evolution; so if I should find myself conflicted between the choice of constancy or progress, if in any manner such is possible, I should rather progress.

Progress always requires more risk and effort than constancy, but constancy is not interesting or fruitful without the forward, upward thrust toward greater achievement. A measured war effort designed to hold ground never produces results as does an aggressive posture made with conquest as its intent. Stalemate is, quite possibly, even worse than blatant defeat; because stalemate, unlike unilateral defeat, dulls the senses and in a long-term manner distracts the focus from the glory of victory.

Certain Strategic Advantage

Do not fight for what cannot be won. Do not surrender what need not be lost. That is my rule of law. All conflicts are byproducts of either failed strategy or the lack of strategy. If everyone acknowledged equally both superior and inferior forces in their operational environment, there would be no war. Capitalism, and not the sword, would be the highest judge.

Glory

The Empire which does not share her glory shall lose her glory. First her glory will vanish, and then her strength; but of surety, without glory she cannot stand. The rule of law in nature as pertaining to mankind seems ever to dictate that without the aesthetics of glory, power has no fuel. Whether governments or individuals, great nations of single souls, the absence of glory equates the birthplace of anarchy. From anarchy comes destruction, and from destruction rebirth.

When the last legion and the last citizen alike stop looking toward Rome and hailing Caesar, that is the moment when the Roman Empire ceases to exist. That is the moment when its spirit is dead. At that point, it matters now how strong her armies are, or how majestic her cities remain. Without glory, her name has no meaning and her era is no more.

It is upon the shoulders of those who find it in themselves to grant to their cause entire allegiance without regard to consequence that the survival of civilization rests.

Absolute Resolve

JALIVA holds her enemies and her friends in like balance, weighing them to see if they be worthy of her devotion; and finding them worthy she is true without wavering; but finding them wanting, she shows no quarter or mercy. Jaliva is slow to wrath; but when this mighty Republic is roused, her fury is unstoppable, her vengeance absolute. It is hoped and expected that the motto of Jaliva's resolve should be all or nothing: Allies or nothing.

There is no middle-ground between worthiness of devotion and unworthiness. There is no middle ground between enemies and friends. There is only allegiance, and the absence of allegiance. When I stop extending the mercies of allegiance, my secession is swift and absolute, and utterly unchangeable.

Hail Victory!

"Hail Ceasar!" and "Heil Hitler!" are both phrases which are commonly associated with the arm-outstretched salute, alluding to solidarity and allegiance.

In Nazi Germany and the Roman Empire respectively, "Hitler" and "Ceasar" respectively alluded to ideals of government and culture beyond the sole individual who bore the name.

I avidly appreciate the Roman salute, fascism in the aesthetically Nazi fashion, Roman culture, and the foundation which all of those things share. I appreciate these things because I understand that the same totality which fascism makes evident is the key to regulating matters of personal living.

"You are nothing. The State is everything." That is the message carried by a fascist military state. Your feelings don't matter! Your life doesn't matter! Forget any thought that these things even exist! Think only of the State! The State is you! You are the State! You and the State are synonymous, one, and the same!

You do not exist to glorify yourself! You exist only to glorify to the State; because only by bringing glory to the State is it possible for you to bring glory to yourself. I speak of a State of mind. Allegiance must come first before all other thoughts in any well-governed life.

Total, entire allegiance to the mission at hand without any self-pity or emotional deviation must be the rule of personal law for the victorious, sovereign individual. If your emotions can be swayed by others, or your judgment manipulated, you are not free or sovereign; but if your mind is an unconquerable republic unto itself, then the empire within your soul is a mighty and unconquerable fortress.

I speak of spiritual bricks, spiritual armies, spiritual laws; and I do not make reference to religion. I refer to the triumph of the will. When an individual does triumph over his unruly will with his rational will, he becomes both a self-proclaimed dictator and a subject of his own dictation. He thereby masters self-control, finding in himself equally the power to act and the power to subdue his unreasonable passions.

Countless times I feel indignant, or angry, concerned or overwhelmed; and in those moments, I remind myself of those fascist principles: I am nothing! My feelings don't matter! I exist only to serve the Empire! I do not deserve to live, except to pursue victory! Life is war! Death is inevitable! Where then is the glory? The glory is in fighting the good fight, being of good cheer when under fire, and bravely facing one's own apparent fate; and the joy? The joy is in the victory which comes after a long, cold winter of silent, humble suffering.

It is eternal glory which I pursue; and so I uplift the principles which together form the foundation of my life: Justice, Wisdom, Liberty, Charity, Heroism, and Strength; but freedom I find occasion not to afford myself ever in full measure. I cannot and must not allow my spirit to descend into anarchy. I must hold myself to my own rule of law. I must devote my life to victory, showing myself no mercy or sympathy in defeat; for I will be shown none by others.

Bad Grammar is Offensive!

I got an E-mail that was 34 words long. The E-mail contained 22 obvious grammar errors. What exactly is the point of sending an E-mail if one of every two words you write is going to be either misspelled or out of context? That certainly doesn't inspire confidence. If the message is business-related, it says that you are unprofessional. If the message is personal, it says that you aren't worth knowing. I don't understand how folks can be going to college in the name of learning while being unable to master the basic skill of writing simple sentences.

The nature of power, and the hand which hold and control power change; but the reality of power remains true and absolute. The great falsehood of human self-trickery is the illusion - a magician's trick - called democracy or freedom. There is no freedom, but that which is moderated, controlled, made subject to the rule of prevailing law. There is no democracy but that which is made by the will of the empowered.

In life we can not be sure of our innate right to live, or to thrive, or to be happy. We must look not to governments, or to faith, or to any other force beyond ourselves for strength or glory, or success. We must turn inwardly, and find power in our own minds, and in our own actions, in our own spirit and character, and in our own strategic advantages. We must not ask or expect others to make us strong. We must ask and expect strength of ourselves.

To be, or not to be: That is the question. It is a question which is answered by the inevitable, impartial hand of fate. We can play a role in the forging of our own fate, the pursuit of our own destiny; and yet true strength rests in our ability to acknowledge the sum of all parts. There is no such thing as innate human rights, or cause for entitlement. There is only what is, and is not; what we can do, and what we cannot do; the power which we wield, and the power which we do not wield.

There is life, and there is death. There is force, and there is weakness. There is glory, and there is the absence of hope; and the victorious know that strength on the battle-field of life is not defined by victory, but by the well fought battle, the honorable soul of a warrior hero who finds inspiration and consolation in the bitter-sweet council of his own rational mind and braves his fate unconditionally unto the end.

Target moves into Canada

The Target company is in the process of acquiring a chain of 220 retail outlets in Canada, as it expands into that country. Walmart already has over 300 stores in Canada. Other than that, there haven't been many major developments in the news pertaining to the retail business this week.

2011 Commitment: 1 Post per Day

It is my goal to make at least one post per day - which is to say a minimum of 365 posts during the course of this year - and hopefully exceed that goal. The key to a good blog is to keep active (and have good content). Moving forward, I want to focus on more interesting content, more videos and images, but most importantly, more content, more consistently.

Over the last 3 years, Jaliva has been an important part of my life; but I haven't really poured the consistent dedication into my online projects necessary to get results. Moving forward in 2011 I want to change that. Some video blogs about my life are probably in order as well. There are so many interesting things that are worth writing about or talking about, I don't think that my blog is silent for lack of originality. I think it falls silent because I have failed to fully capture in my own mind the true magnitude of what I want Jaliva to be.

I want to start turning Jaliva into an outward entity which speaks not just to me, but to others. I want Jaliva to inspire people everywhere to rise to new heights and to challenge themselves on a personal level; and that is why I want to share my personal micro-national journey with the world online.

In any case, it is 5:41 AM, and this has been one of those nights spent up thinking about great things when I should have been sleeping; and so I must retire and catch some sleep in preparation for tomorrow's battle, which includes helping someone I know with their computer, and working at Walmart later on.

Jaliva Financial Report

Jaliva's Economic Indicator reported unprecedented strength as the HC352 indicator rose 777 points to close at 6,319 on Saturday. The Commonwealth indicator has not been that high since last October, when it peaked at 6633. Current economic forecasts indicate continued growth over the course of the coming weeks. Nevertheless, optimism remains measured, as I will owe the IRS some money within the next few months, and additionally must continue looking into the prospect of obtaining a new vehicle.

During the course of the last month Jaliva endured at least two unexpected fiscal attacks in the form of mechanic charges (vehicle related) and a computer crash. This being considered, the Republic fares well.

Hail JALIVA!

I am very, very proud, because JALIVA is something bigger than myself. The Standard of Jaliva is hoisted far above as the true ideal which I represent with daily passion and true devotion. It is the supreme court of my soul. It defines my allegiances as a sovereign individual, as a citizen, as a laborer, as a friend, and as a free agent.

Three years ago, when I first started forging my way as a micronationalist, I had no idea where it would take me; but today, I see that I am much stronger in mind and body, spirit, and circumstance than I was before. I have the strength now to reason and to embrace the sum of all of life's parts. I have the motivation to face the struggles which may on occasion tax the body or strain endurance. I have the will to continue to remind myself of those pure virtues which every sovereign person should pursue; a higher purpose, a more graceful approach to life. I find the bravery necessary to face the circumstances of fate which, positively or negatively, chart innately the course which my life must take.

It is human nature to hide the head in sand like the legends say ostrich birds do. We want to pretend that our troubles aren't as bad as they really are. We want to pretend that we are richer or more powerful than we really are. We want to trick ourselves into thinking that we are more noble than we really are. We want to ignore the inevitable end which we will sooner or later embrace, and we think that by way of ignorance we may forever coast blissfully. We refuse to face the cruel possibility of sudden destruction. It is thus no wonder that we should succumb to sudden destruction!

I know that I will die. I know that I am not outrageously great. I do not brag of my weaknesses, or even care to admit them; but I am well aware of them, and I am not afraid to admit them within the private council of my own mind. I do not dwell on death, but I am well aware of my mortality. I face life as it is, and I break to pieces the illusions which paint false images.

Jaliva, my micronation, is stronger than I am. It is my inspiration. It is an allegory of the perfect square which I aspire to make my life conform to in the highest degree possible. Jaliva is not a symbol of self-worship. It is a symbol of self-empowerment. The Jaliva Cross is evermore an emblem of reason in its many degrees, an ever-present reminder of the fact that reason is the fuel which, if ignited, creates power.

Classical reason and classical culture, born of freedom and sovereignty, rises in the ideal which I have created. That is Jaliva, and so whether I work or play, or sit alone in the dark of the night, I serve Jaliva. Whether I wave the banner of my country, or my country, or of some society, I do it for Jaliva. Just as every legion in the world existed for the glory of Rome, so every allegiance in my life serves to extend the glory and power of Jaliva.

ALLEGIANCE is defined as "the loyalty of a citizen to his or her government or of a subject to his or her sovereign."

I pledge allegiance to myself. I split my person into two equal parts; the citizen and the government, the subject and the sovereign. I both serve myself and command myself. I am both in charge of myself and subordinate to myself. My mind is my highest government. My weakness is outranked by my strength.

My ideals are the republic to which I owe my allegiance; and I view the rule of law as a powerful ally and strength rather than something to be distained or feared. My allegiances in affairs of society are clear and resolute. I know what I can and cannot do. I am not afraid to face with furious courage and simple honesty the truth of my circumstance. I know my power and I know my weakness, and I am at peace in the company of both.

In affairs public I know, and others know that my allegiance to my nation is, insomuch as I am at peace, entire and unshakeable. My service to nation is without question or recall. I am a good citizen. In matters of labor, it is clear that I serve my business with commitment and devotion pertaining to everything that I do. As concerns the company of comrades and acquaintances, it is clear to me that some are my allies, and some are my enemies, and some I do not know. My enemies are few, and my allies are equally few, and I do not give audience to those who I cannot trust to be one or the other.

My allegiances are clear, and whether I win or am defeated in the conflict of life, the terms of conflict and the rules of law are under no circumstance questioned. I know myself, and to myself I am true. In my right I am strong, and in the council of such allegiance I cannot be dismayed.

Micronational Report: Jaliva Fights Still!

The Third Legion reports optimism. The First Legion performs its duty with honor. The Second remains faithfully on reserve. The Fourth and Fifth are well governed. The various Divisions I find favorable.

Jaliva continues to be in a state of war. Executive order 12-16 (FFSA) still aids our reformation; but never before has need for honor both on front lines and in closed cabinets been greater.

Jaliva's existence must be safeguarded; her virtues and dominions kept safe from the destruction of defeat. Hail victory. Hail Jaliva!

I dream of a day when her banners shall flutter in the free air over victorious sovereign soil; yet aI know that such a vision is no small thing.

Through my questions, my doubts, my insecurities, I have seen glory more than most, and so I find this struggle to be an honor.

Jaliva Herald: Renewed Mission Statement

What I really have been trying to do is drag all of my ideas under one banner, and as it turns out, that banner is Jaliva. I aim to write about my Micronation in a broader context than I have before. The banner of Jaliva represents my ideals. It represents my job. It represents my home. It represents my dreams and my aspirations. It represents my thoughts and my struggles. It represents my money and my possessions. It represents my hobbies and interests. It pertains to my friends, acquaintances, allies, and even enemies. Jaliva represents everything that I am, and so I am reminding myself of that as I transcribe to this blog with renewed dedication.

Micronationalists sometimes derail themselves by addressing themselves too formally. They expect that Micronational affairs must be lofty, and so they try to pretend that they are something that they are not and prop up their fantasy nation with total fiction. That is one thing that gives my Micronation distinction. It is in no way a fantasy. It isn't "based" on anything. It is something. It is me and my enterprise, my realm and dominion.

I have a war to wage, and that war isn't waged with tanks on a snowy Russian front. It is waged daily against struggles which pertain to myself. My war is financial; an ongoing struggle against debt and economic forces of suppression and darkness. When I am attacked, I am not usually attacked with knives or swords or guns. Usually I am attacked by other things, like tax season, or a vehicle that won't start when I need to go to work in the morning, or a computer virus that messes up my computer and forces me to take on extra expense. My enemies don't rule continents or wield nuclear warheads. They are subversive people who might try to do something sneaky which threatens my progress in life. They are sometimes myself in moments of weakness or poor judgment.

Jaliva is my Struggle and my Triumph. The flag of Jaliva is the flag of me; so whether I am talking about a day at work, or a project I am working on, or a matter of personal philosophy, or something more grand (or even a little bit corny) like my latest seal or insignia or micronational law, all of this serves to be nothing more or less than the story of my life told in an interesting way.

Renewing Allegiances

There is the human animal, which is to say the instinct of life; and that instinct makes us do things because we are driven to. We are driven to want to eat, and to mate, and sometimes to kill; and so around the world, as long as there have been recordings made of human civilization, there has been an agricultural business, and a sex business, and a war business. All of that consumption of food, and of humanity, and of lives seems fickle, pointless, and grossly barbaric; and yet, by the side of the darker motives within us there rise more noble elements of refinement and beauty; and those refinements are something that I cherish and, both in spite of and because of my humanity, strive to return to, build upon, and establish.

I am talking about the rule of law that makes men more than animals, and gives higher order to what would otherwise be plain chaos. We fight for cultural clarity, for love and devotion, and for conflicts for integrity rather than conflicts for the sake of conflict. We believe that we are strong in our right, and we declare as self-evident the truth that somehow that matters. We want to believe that what we do matters, and what we think matters, and what we aspire toward is of value; and in our minds we make rules that guide our lives.

These rules of law are what we live by; and if we respect them, they become more dear to us than any other allegiance could be. We first serve the great republic in our hearts known as conscience, and in the service of such greatness we cannot be dismayed; so to me that is what Jaliva is about. Jaliva is my ideal, the superior values which I subject myself to; and it is the result of those subjections, the product of my life. Its banner flies high, and today this Micro-Nation is three years old.

I Pledge Allegiance to JALIVA, one Republic, indivisible.

Jaliva has six figurative representatives which form the allegorical "Senate" of the Republic. They are Justitia, Athena, Libertus, Isis, the Valkyrie, and Atlas. Practically speaking, the Senate of Jaliva is in fact a Pantheon. Jaliva also has five allegorical Legions, which allegorically represent personal allegiances to Self-Determination, Nationalism, Labor, Fraternity, and Personal Liberty. Jaliva is governed physically by four rules of law, which are Power of Mind, Power of Body, Power of Spirit, and Power of Circumstance or fate.

The six representatives, five legions, and four rules of law serve as an ever-present reminder to me of the enlightened principles which I strive to uphold in my personal enterprise. Ultimately, Jaliva is both physical pertaining to actual assets and tangible domains and spiritual as pertaining to ideals, dreams and visions, and aspirations of principle. Jaliva is both what I am, and what I aspire to be. Its flag is the emblem which I have created as a symbol of the sum of my product and my potential, and more importantly of those higher ideals of Justice, Wisdom, Liberty, Love, Heroism, and Strength.

On 13 January, 2008, The Howardian Realm of Jaliva declared its sovereignty; and it strived from that point on to realize its sovereignty. Many forces waged war against the sovereignty of the realm, however; and so the struggle has continued for nearly three years. The Howardian War of Independence rages on today, and we hope with greater precision will lead us forth into a new era of glory.

Commonwealth of Howardia Restructures as Dominion of Jaliva

The Commonwealth of Howardia is in the process of being restructured under the new international banner of the Dominion of Jaliva.

My Micro-Nation was founded on January 13, 2008 in the form of the Howard Office of Family Concerns. It began as a small initiative geared toward better organizing day-to-day operations, and grew substantially. Over the course of the last two and a half years, Howardia has evolved continually. The colors and emblems which have represented it have evolved and expanded; but for the greater part, Howardia remained a private hobby, and its growth was not known by many people other than myself, the Paramount Chief.

As Howardia begins to make plans for its eventual entrance onto the world stage of Micronations, it has been my goal to tie all of the loose ends together and bring the last two years of history together in a new, refreshing way; and that is exactly why the Howardian Administration and all emblems thereof are now subsidiary to the new flag of Jaliva.

Jaliva is, in actuality, an acronym. In addition to being the official title of the Dominion, it represents various mythological figures which form a unique pantheon of virtues:

Justitia - The Goddess of Justice

Athena - The Goddess of Wisdom and Victory

Libertus - The Goddess of Liberty

Isis - The Goddess of Charity and Advocacy

Micro Nationalism

A while ago I became disenfranchised with religion and, to some degree, patriotism. I realized that relativism was the only logically acceptable approach to life in general; but I was also acutely aware that religion and nationalism are powerful tools that can provide context for living.

By getting rid of religion entirely, a certain sense of morality and default human value is lost. In other words, when you stop believing that there is a supreme rule that defines right and wrong and controls human destiny, you are forced to realize that nothing really matters and life is in the strictest sense a pointless endeavor.

By getting rid of political fervor, a citizen can be enlightened to the point of realizing some important and vital principles. Racial and cultural divides can be overcome by eliminating Nationalism. War can be averted, and a kind of evolved sensibility can be worked toward which would be impossible under a traditional patriotic model. Nevertheless, without National pride, society drifts aimlessly toward a universal state of apathy. The moment you admit that every other country on earth is just as good as yours and that all people on earth are equally valuable, you lose the right to be proud.

Pride can't exist without context. If you aren't looking down at somebody who you have concluded is inferior, it is impossible for you to believe that there is anything special about yourself. Using a lottery as an example, a fair system would make everyone win an equal amount; but if that was the way it worked, nobody would care about the lottery. It all boils down to this law: Glory can't exist without an equal measure of shame somewhere. When we eliminate shame, we make a better system for everyone; but in the process we also rob ourselves of a certain sense of glory which is important to the human experience.

It is not a coincidence that as western society becomes less warlike and superstitious overall, it enjoys an increase in the depictions of virtual violence and fantasy on film, in video or computer games, and in other popular culture. People don't go to the coliseum to watch people get killed, but they do enjoy watching films like Gladiator which provide essentially the same psychological product.

Micro Nationalism is, as I see it, an antidote to personal apathy in the rational mind of the relativist. It is the conclusion that one's self provides innate context for life; that one's physical and intellectual possessions are his or her Nation, and that the pure power of logic should be the recipient of devotion and faith.

We should be proud of our accomplishments, not because they are superior to the accomplishments of others, but because they are better than they might have been if we had not led our own lives as well. We should have faith in the rationale of our own minds, forging the conviction necessary to believe that our choices and conclusions are correct and appropriate.

Ultimately, Micro Nationalism is a declaration of faith in the one thing that cannot be disproven or disputed, and loyalty to the one thing that cannot fail or betray. It is faith vested in the mind, and loyalty devoted to self alone. A Micro Nation is the sum of an Individual; the sum of his or her financial/capital worth, and the sum of his or her intellectualism. It is made manifest by a unique awareness of mental and possessive sovereignty, personal values and methods.

The Micro Nationalist is aware of his or her policies concerning how the business of life should be transacted. He/she makes a point to be aware of personal financial matters, and understands that being a good manager of capital and other physical resources is fundamental to success.

The Micro Nationalist understands that supreme allegiance should be given to no one other than self. He or she cooperates with the rules made by other people out of expedience only, always reserving the intellectual right to act as a free agent. Above all, the Micro Nationalist refuses to allow a system, whether civil or religious, to replace individual free thought.

The Micro Nationalist focuses primarily on doing a good job of managing life, looking at the matter as if it were a campaign or a battlefield. He/she shuns the idea of answering to anyone, and instead diverts more energy inwardly by making logical choices in an effort to achieve personal victory, as opposed to emotional choices in an effort to please the God, magistrate, or country at large. The mental encumbrance of living life on everyone else's terms is something that the micro nationalist strives to eliminate to the greatest degree possible.

Outward displays of micro nationalism which are recognizable to those unacquainted with the concept may be present, or may not be. Such outward displays, such as the creation of flags or ensigns intended to represent one's personal Micro Nation, or other "nation building" activities, if genuine, reflect a deeper matter of personal principle; but while they may be opted for as a hobby, the true concept of Micro Nationalism is philosophical, as opposed to being defined by any single visible factor such as raising a flag over one's back yard.

Micro Nationalism is all about power. It is about becoming aware that there is one thing that you have absolute control over: Yourself. It is furthermore about developing a system whereby to turn that awareness into an ongoing, lifelong effort to improve yourself and your position in life. Most importantly, while if successful there is little doubt that it opens the door to a fun hobby and something that might even interest other people, Micro Nationalism is personal. It is a way for you to visualize and conceptualize yourself in an enduring way.

Far too often people get the idea that they want to be Micro Nationalists on a whim because they imagine that the idea of ruling a country sounds cool. Those folks miss the point of what the experience is all about. If your primary reason for getting involved in Micro Nationalism is to impress other people, or to gain attention, it is probable that boredom will rule out in the end, and your mission won't last; but If you get into it for yourself alone and stick with it, there is an outstanding chance that it will develop into something that is not only a fun hobby (if you can handle having a few people think that you are eccentric) but also a great way to challenge yourself to be a better person.

This is my personal political manifesto, though it should be noted that it isn't really political or religious, as it doesn't attempt or imply that there is any "right" or "wrong" way to think or believe. The phrase "To thine own self be true" produces over ten million search engine results on the internet, but it still remains a concept which most of us struggle to apply in our daily lives. Much of what we do is affected by factors like social expectations, faith, or our sense of obligation. We worry about what the system expects so much that we forget to look to ourselves for an independent conclusion.

GOD, A SUMMATION OPERATOR

GOD is defined as "Supreme, Ultimate Reality".

SUPREME is…

the best, most extreme of its kind,

ULTIMATE is…

REALITY is:

FAITH is:

RELIGION is:

Science, knowledge, literacy, reason, intellect, and countless other non-religious words allude to the idea of service to the supreme verifiable truth which God – as the dictionary alludes – seems to represent; and of all of the words in the English language, I have discovered that the definition of faith and religion are most opposite to the definition of God.

Indeed, religion in general blatantly recognizes itself as faith-based; and yet, considerations of simple reasoning and dictionary definitions make clear the fact that God – Supreme, Ultimate Reality – has nothing to do with religion, which seldom collects sufficient data to discern whether God is supreme or ultimate (or even precisely what God is), and flagrantly buries reality under the all-encompassing blanket of faith.

If God is the sum of all knowledge, the final product of science, the entire and absolute finality of truth, and is the purest reward of reason and intellect; and Atheism is denial or refusal to admit the existence of the same, then it seems apparent, even self-evident that individuals adhering by faith to religious dogma may correctly be defined, in accordance with the literal definitions of the English language, as atheists; while most "atheists" as defined by popular culture, should more correctly be defined as deists.

I suggest that the great theological battles of our time might be waged from the pages of a dictionary. I suggest that the English language is itself proof that God could not die on a cross and meet the dictionary definition of God. I am convinced that mythology, ideology, idolatry, fantasy, and faith are whims that are entirely separate from the meaning of God.

God is the summation of all unequivocal and provable truth. God is to the English Language what the letter Sigma is to the language of Mathematics. God is the Summation Operator which bridges all facts, connecting them together to form one solid, undisputable and coherent existence. God is everything, and everything is God. Faith in God is oxymoronic. It is possible to live by faith, and it is possible to place trust in God; but it is impossible to do both at the same time.

The summation operator symbolizes the summation of groups or elements to form a rational inclusive conclusion, while simple addition and subtraction operators do not recognize separate elements, and do not attribute rational or analytical significance to the final conclusion of a problem. The summation operator implies, beyond mere addition, analysis and the entire finished product of a concept group.

Religion generally supposes good and evil, and judges those ideas by variables and degrees; adding and subtracting arbitrary moral positives and negatives, and fuelling its philosophical platform-at-large by placing focus on the adding and the subtracting of theological operators while avoiding the larger, more existential questions; e.g., "because God" is the primary apologetic vehicle, as opposed to "why God". Religion adds and subtracts theological points, but abandons fundamentals for faith. A broader version of God, more like the Summation Operator, focuses on general principles rather than practical applications; e.g., God is X.

The media loves to paint pictures of a shiney world in which everything is happy, clean, and free of errors. Real life is full of rough spots, things that are boring, and an abundance of routine problems; but in the perfect world of advertising, we are led to believe that if we buy the products or services which are shown on screen, life will magically fall into blissful, perfect harmony.

This came from a cat food advertisement. Look at the perfectly positioned furniture, cat food dish which is shiney and clean, and absence of a single piece of kibble on the floor:

The well-staged comedy of media techniques is certainly laughable, but at some point it is worth questioning in some depth. To what degree is it true that we as a real world society are often swept off of our feet with strange, almost surreal media pictures of a perfect, action-packed world in which nothing goes wrong that can't be fixed by the end of the segment... and as a result, become disenfranchised with the reality of human existence, which is that for all of its goodness, the world isn't set up like it looks on TV? Once in a while, a reality check is in order.

The human body is almost entirely made from water; and a very small chage in the percentage of water content in it can bean the difference between life and death.

We naturally assume that there is a wide span between success and failure; between life and death; between normalcy and chaos. What we overlook is the fact that we are all alking on the edge of a knife, never more than a step away from seeing the other side of the curtain which separates us from the other side.

We always assume that we will live forever, treating the inevitability of old age and eventual death as if it were vastly far away and unimportant, safely stored in a place sufficiently beyond us not to cause worry. We assume that the traffic accident on the interstate won't be us; that the homeless man on the corner won't be us; that we won't lose our job or status; that life will go on the way we expect without incident.

We imagine that certain laws and rules will always be there to protect us from the unexpected or tragic; and yet I am amazed continually, because the barrier which separates unparallelled glory from unprecedented despair is immeasurably thin and frail.

Just a small twist of fate can make a poor man wealthy, or the richest among us destitute; the productive fall silent, the busy hum of life grind to a stop, or new birth to commence. We build our philosophies upon the assumption that life is a constant, and certain variables and parameters in our lives unchanging; and thus we sail in our unsinkable ships of hope or despair, seldom realizing how small the margin of our existence really is.

The wise man spends some time thinking about the meaning of existence, and the wisest man never reaches a conclusion. What is, is. We should seek truth and clarity. We should aim to use as the foundation for our lives no idea or ideology, but the plain, purity of truth purged of opinion and faith. We should learn to be satisfied with our existence, content with the knowledge that we exist, willing to lay to rest our premature and wild guesses as to the nature of things bigger than we are.

God: The supreme or ultimate reality.

^ By understanding the meaning of the word GOD, we learn that God is a synonym which is interchangeable with the word Truth.

Truth: The state of being the case.

^ By understanding the meaning of Truth, we realize that in accordance with the parameters of the English language, GOD and TRUTH are synonyms. In other words, GOD is TRUTH and TRUTH is GOD. Because TRUTH is THAT WHICH IS, we rationally understand that ALL THAT EXISTS IS GOD.

Interpretations of the word "God" which imply that deity is somehow separate from Existence, that Deity has a specific Gender or personality, or that faith in the unproven is a necessary part of the recognition of God, rely upon the misuse of the English word "God".

Such interpretations share accordance with the meaning of the word IDOL: An object of extreme devotion. From the root word IDOL we rationally derive the words IDEAL, and IDEOLOGY. In most cases, religion is Ideological, a derivitive of idolatry, contrary to self-evident truth, believed rather than understood.

The Atheist is an individual who believes that there is no deity; who asserts that their is no God. Thus, using the self-evident reasoning of our own English language, we are forced to conclude that an Atheist is defined as any person who does not believe that truth exists; one who asserts that nothing exists, or who refuses to acknowledge existence.

Thus, rationally, most people who, in modern context, are categorized as atheists are not true Atheists. Instead, religious and ideological people who choose faith instead of reason and refuse to acknowledge proven fact, defying science to defend their faith are ATHEISTS, and enemies of truth.

From idolotry, which is supreme devotion of any kind, IDEAL is formed. Ideal is a word which is related to OPINION. Unlike KNOWLEDGE, it is not based upon FACT. Ideal is based upon an IDOL of some form; an idea which is given superior or supreme devotion and used as a pattern or rule.

From IDEAL, which is supreme devotion used as a pattern or rule in the life of an individual, eventually comes IDEOLOGY, which is the belief that said IDEAL should be adopted as the standard pattern or rule not just for individual adoption, but universally for broader SOCIETY. To provide an example, for an individual, getting up at a certain time every day be a personal ideal. If, however, that individual decides that everyone, everywhere, should get up at a certain time every day, the personal ideal at that point becomes an ideology.

From IDEOLOGY we gain POLITICS, LAW, MORALITY AND ECONOMICS. We gain culture, nationalism, and often a sense of value. We do not, however, necessarily find truth in ideology. Truth is self-evident, and is never reliant on faith. Ideology can have a positive or a negative effect, or - as is generally the case - it can produce a mixed result.

It is my conclusion that a God of Faith neither is or can be a true God. God is science, the summation of all truth. Thus, while we should embrace ideology as something that is interesting and possibly inspiring, we should temper it with the knowledge that truth is impartial.

After putting some thought into the matter, I finally decided to drag the NRNP idea under the umbrella of my already existing pseudo-political pseudo-fascist micro-nation and use it as a tool to promote individual sovereignty.

As ruler of the Micro-Nation of Howardia, it is my privilege to publish on behalf of the Economic Administration a listing of United States businesses which I advise a primary boycott against. Because United States commerce is a major player both on the Howardia Commonwealth Stock Exchange and in general trade, it is necessary for me as sovereign authority over Howardian economic activity to make key decisions regarding where Howardian dollars and consumer interests are spent.

Howardia advises a primary boycott of the following corporations:

PRIMARY BOYCOTT ADVISORY: TARGET Target maintains policy of refusing to hire full-time employees in midst of general U.S. recession. Howardian intelligence estimates that this practice is harmful to the economic security of the laborers affiliated with the organization, and for this reason advises a boycott.

SECONDARY BOYCOTT ADVISORY: WAL-MART Wal-Mart contributes to suburban sprawl, ultimately eroding traditional urban grids and increasing the rate at which Chinese imports are sold to American consumers. Because of its strong connection to China and unusually strong drain on American urbanized zones, Howardia advises a boycott.

PRIMARY ENDORSEMENT: BORDERS Borders Group strengthens urban areas by encouraging literacy and offering a welcoming retail environment.

HONORABLE MENTION: MACY'S Macy's strengthens urban retail cores across the United States and is heavily unionized. For this reason, Howardia chooses to list Macy's as one of the most notably positive retail corporations in America.

It is the conviction of Howardian High Command (A.K.A. Myself) that consumers should not derive satisfaction from frequently giving business to companies which employ miserable workers or care for them poorly. It is the judgment of this supreme court that consumers should ethically strive to do business where the laborers appear to be happiest and most well-compensated. I propose the foundation of a New World Order. It is a New World Order much like that implied in the works of Ayn Rand, who implied the power of the individual under the exclusive service of rational self-interest. I have seen glory in many things, and I am presently working hard to pour from my mind a coherent stream of all these greatest virtues. I am using Micro-Nationalism as the vehicle for my suppositions and ideals.

The Howardia Commonwealth 352 Indicators closed down 2.71 points for the week at 51.19. ASOV (Active Currency) was the weakest performer, dropping 50% to a final close at just over seven points. Investments and Securities held their respective ground as ISOV remained virtually even and SSOV gained one point.

This week's financial indicators are posted on the bar to the right. They will continue to be posted there, and updated as close to the end of the last day of each week as is conveniently possible. The HC352 Indicators monitor the real wealth of Howardia, and reflect my real-world personal finances. While the specific algorithm used to calculate the final numbers is classified, they are indeed backed up by real capital.

The HC 352 indicators are designed to reflect the general trading volume of the early S&P 500.

On the Micronational front regarding other issues, it is my continued goal to work to combine my Blog and Youtube to increase the coherency of Howardia's online presence. Because a fully featured website is too cumbersome to update when one doesn't necessarily have a whole lot to say, I have concluded that blogging is a nice middle ground. At some point I want to get a broader, well-programmed and paid website up and running permanently, but right now I just don't have enough content to make the trouble rewarding.

It is true that at face value the game which is the Stock Market would seem often to be little more than a casino for people pretending to be businessmen or tycoons. Nevertheless, there is one very strong reason to invest which has nothing to do with the capital gain of it. It is the learning factor.

As an investor on any level in any field, having money in the market induces a desire in the mind of the investor to become at least basically acquainted with world news and economic dynamics. The non-investor has no reason to care what happens around the world, or what is happening in any broad sector. He usually cares only about the trivialities of his own limited life.

Investing gives the average person a reason to read the news, to tune in and watch the broadcasts, to take in articles of an economic subject matter, to think about them, to engage in discussion concerning the issues which define society and business; and the rational individual, having reason to partake of the common knowledge of the world, naturally begins drifting toward a more well-informed position.

Need is the most powerful motivator in the world. If you want a man to build a house quickly and work hard at it, make him realize that if he fails he will be homeless. If you want a person to care about details, make them realize that their very life depends on those details. No rational man will work hard or think hard if there is not at minimum some reward to be gained in exchange for the effort.

To ask a rational man to think without any recompense is like asking him to labor without any return. Unless he is a fool, he would sooner let his brains rot in his head than to pour them into an enterprise which will offer him no thanks or opportunity to utilize that which he has learned. Infants begin learning to speak because they need to communicate. Foreign migrants learn the language of their new country for the same reason. These genuine pursuants of knowledge for reasons of rational self-interest will always be more successful than text-book studying drones who study useless fact and data which, for all of its value under the right circumstance, has no immediate applicable use.

By buying shares of the world, the rational individual is given inspiration to study the world; to ask questions of morality, of philosophy, of economics, and of society. In the 21st century, it may be more true now than at any time in the past, that the individual investor is the new face of John Gault.

If you linger, you will soon find yourself seated in and surrounded by executive office furniture while somebody explains to you - professionally - how if you pay a small fee to sign up for something or enroll in something, it will be your first step toward inconcievable wealth. The business person making the presentation will go on to explain how, almost in the blink of an eye, you will be working one hour a week and making over $100,000 a year. You could have spared everyone a great deal of time and embarassment by just leaving when you saw the cheap plaques glued to the wall.

If you want to be successful, remember that morons and con artists like plaques, flashy things, shiny objects, and, most of all, awards. Avoid all of the aforementioned and you will be well on your way toward planting your feet solidly in reality. There are lots of people trying to tell us that we can build skyscrapers without digging a foundation. The wise folks are the ones who are still digging the foundation when everyone else is leasing out their buildings.

Imagine a strategic board game. You know what the game pieces look like. You know how the game pieces are made. You know where the game pieces are made. You know what the game pieces are made out of. You know who markets the product. You know every fact in existence about the game, except for the rules of how it is played. You do not know how it is played. You do not know the game play value of any of the pieces. You do not know how to win.

Now imagine that the strategic board game is the United States. You know facts. You may have a degree, or many degrees. You may be considered an expert in a field. You may exhibit impressive intelligence. There may even be no statistic or scientific knowledge which you are not intimately familiar with. None of this means that you know how to be successful.

When you play a game of strategy, you don't need to know what the game pieces are made out of. You don't need to know how many units of the game were sold nationwide last year. You don't need to know anything about the war campaigns of Napoleon. All you need to know is the very least and most basic strategy necessary to win the game. Your moves, and not your knowledge, will define your success or failure.

The person who regularly saves some of his or her income, has no debt, directly invests in the Stock Market with regularity, and employs common sense safeguards against loss is most likely already in the top 5% most successful (or potentially successful) people. Simple is good.

The Stock Market is Welfare for the intelligent that helps everyone by giving those without businesses the opportunity to raise capital to start their own while providing operative businesses the capital needed to maintain and grow their pre-existing enterprises.

Social Welfare is a Stock Market for the unintelligent which helps no one, acting as a parasite that feeds on successful business thus depriving it of the ability to maintain itself and grow, while providing a crutch to those without businesses that discourages them from investing in free enterprise of their own.

Why is the top 1% of Americans continually getting richer while the other 99% keep getting poorer? Some people say that it is because of corruption and conspiracy; but what if the simple truth is that only 1% of Americans are getting richer because 99% of Americans lack the common sense necessary to apply rudimentary strategy to their lives?

Does man not see more glory in the edifice than the internal workings of great buildings?

Do we not remember the Egyptians more for the uniqueness of their symbols and architecture than for their ideology?

May it not be said truthfully that beyond the written word there exists no greater calling for men to pursue than architectural geometry?

Politics provide ambience for the great halls of Washington. Without the great buildings symbolizing our Republic, the legal process would be disoriented and devoid of scope.

I do not trust any man who does not have at least a casual appreciation for architecture; and I do not embrace the politics or ideals of one who does not in some manner show reverence for the beauty of classical style.

It is my opinion that the architect is by profession incapable of leading a disorderly or immoral life; for every stroke of his pen and every act of design tenders to his mind a reaffirmation of those principles which are most conducive to rectitude of principle and truthful nature.

The politician and the banker both operate best behind illusions of truth and power where neither are or should be. The end result of legalism and finance are inevitably abusive to any society, producing tyranny and robbery under the guise of security.

Architecture is the opposite of these, for unlike other fields, it cannot operate upon falsehood. The very laws of nature ensure the honesty of the architect, for should his work be less than well-designed, it will not stand.

There is no economic woe that cannot be solved by the architect; for men of toil need no more than some great new building to build, whereby to cease their idleness and be employed; and so by design, the architect provides the finest solution to unemployment possible; and with his mental labor he produces evidence of his own ideals which transcend mere lip-work or paperwork.

The buildings of an architect are concrete pictures of his beliefs; and if he both develops and understanding of geometry and speech, it seems self-evident that only goodness and inspiration may spring from his career.

In war, it is not blood or death which is the greatest evidence of assault against a people, but the destruction of architecture.

Great monuments and urban landscapes are destroyed by conflicts with more vengeance than the lives of mere men; for a man may die, but a building will provide evidence of his glory long after he is gone.

The enemies of truth and glory, those who wish to destroy a people, need only to undermine great architecture or destroy the monuments which are of social significance.

Architecture is the support of finance and the cause for politics. Of the three, it is most undermined in modern thought; but more than to great thinkers or great swindlers the world and any well-governed society owes its greatness to great builders.

If a man studied only politics or only a field of finance, he would lack vital insights into human social fundamentals; but if a man studied only geometry, he would no doubt be both wise in business and political science.

The architecture of Washington, D.C. is the only branch of American politics that has been non-partisan since the founding of the Nation.

Humans have placed kings, presidents, popes and pastors in positions of authority over them for thousands of years. They have fought for them, served them, and trusted them, esteeming the offices of their leaders in nations and perishes as the highest point of social achievement, the greatest kind of power, and as the most prominent voices of order and wisdom in the world.

Like morality grounded in blindness, in fear, or in desperate mythology, humans have governed and been governed often without understanding the basis for government, wrongly assuming that government is linear with a high point being the leader of many and a low point being the lowest servant.

Having failed to develop the power of their own rational minds, they believed that below the earth dwelt Satan, Hades, or the personification of evil; that in the fields and lowlands lived the common folk; on the high hills, or in grand palaces and castles dwelt the glorious, and in the sky above them deity.

They believed that the source of truth and power for the government of men rested not in the rational minds of men themselves, but in the voice of the leader, whether perceived as a messenger from God, or as a man who was God, or as a man with superior qualifications for the office of government.

The rational mind has been suppressed by misplaced understanding of the role which government should play in the life and affairs of humanity. The student of the rational mind understands that the basis for government is the rational mind. It is the inalienable power of the individual to engage in reason, to process logic, and to pursue truth as an individual.

From the rational mind is born all manner of success and potential. By shunning its use, whether through the teaching of faith in the place of reason as is the case with religious dogma, or by propaganda which teaches service without question as is the case with nations, true government is surrendered for slavery in the name of government.

True government is not tendered by men to other men. It is tendered by the rational mind to the rational individual, who is sovereign, with all of the rights and powers to think and act which traditionally have been regarded as the privileges only of dictators.

Suspension of the rational mind is witnessed in any case wherein a person naturally does what he or she is told, or follows because someone is leading. It is seen whenever a citizen places faith in national government or faith in something that is not rationally understood. It is chiefly represented by all people who do what they do not because of their own choice as much as because it is traditional, or expected, or perceived as normal.

The rational thinker is an empire unto him or herself. He or she is a micro-nation, a jurisdiction of the mind and body, sovereign, with the right to think freely and reach any conclusion whatsoever, to act based on the conclusions and intent of the mind, to declare war on something or embrace it at will, to fashion a system of justice, culture and style creatively and independently of others.

The rational thinker is truly the servant of no man. He or she is servant only to the orders of reason. The rational thinker is, among humans, the most supremely selfish. Rational self-interest does not justify its actions based on the expectations of religion, of a nation, or of the community. It acts as its own justification.

Nevertheless, the man who is devoted to self-interest and has freed his mind from the encumbrances of slavery to the hive mind of the masses or the interests of others likely ranks among the most compassionate of people, the most upright of citizens, the most moral.

To the less evolved mind, self-interest may be seen as not involving others; but to the rational mind, self-interest very likely also includes interest in the welfare of others. If a person lives life without exhibiting kindness, mercy, or lending aid ever to others, it is probable that like indifference will be shown to him or her if the time should ever come when the graces of fortune and health are reversed. Thus, the rational mind advises the individual to ever act with charity and speak with kindness, insuring against loneliness and abandonment be being a worthy steward of his or her fellows.

The rational mind must, as a governor of the body, intents, and actions of the individual, make its first and most basic act of government the correct understanding of the present fact of life. The rational individual understands what he has, and equally what he does not have. He understands what power he does have, and what power he does not have. He acts with immediate rationality to discern the most profitable enterprise and action whereby to gain strength or advancement for the benefit of the plan of life.

The rational micro-nationalist, which is defined as a person who is first and above all a thinker, who pledges allegiance to truth and reason before any other power and cares for self-interest before the foreign interests of outsiders, keeps careful and just account of the possessions of life, assets of material and fiscal value, and opportunities which are available. The micro-nationalist is careful of his company, forging alliances with few and guarding carefully the social moves which he or she makes.

The micro-nationalist also understands that life without an objective falls short of its purpose, and lays down a basic groundwork of understanding declaring what he or she desires to do with the wealth and power that is gained in life. It is this rational vision which makes every step ring with some tangible and understood purpose, every dollar earned bringing the architect closer to seeing the master plan completed.

The rational mind is ruler of the current realm. It serves, as the government of the enlightened, to discern the truth of two matters:

2. What Can Be

Many men have tried to scale the mountain of philosophy and ideology which spans millenniums and have been confounded by the massiveness of it. They tried to formulate some simple and rational truth from the incomprehensible sum of all that has been, and all that could have been, all that should have been, and all that could in the future be, or not be, and they have been overcome by the questions surrounding those things, the half truths, and uncertainties.

The rational mind has no opinion about the past, nor does it divert energy to the future. It pays no respect to what is but cannot be by its choice changed. The rational mind regards only the tools and building blocks which are present, and their immediate uses.

The rational mind has no doubt, or regret, or wonder. It is consumed only by discernable truth and the self-evident means to an end. It serves as a necessary filter to separate the senses from the myriad distractions which keep the individual from having the calm resoluteness of mind required to work in the present.

Countless dollars have been spent by men who were trying to flee the future before its arrival or compensate for the past. Countless men have found themselves uncertain of their beliefs and identity because they became lost in the beliefs and identities of others.

The definition of intrinsic value is the first virtue of the rational mind. The rational man understands what he has, and in the simplest manner possible, he is aware of its value. He also understands what he knows, and in the simplest manner possible, he is aware of its value.

Food is among the easiest of possessions to value, for it is easy to understand the number of days which it may endure and support health. Currency is likewise among the most tangible of possessions, for in a simple number a man with money may judge his ability to buy and sell.

Other possessions are generally valued not for their financial value, but for their operative value. A telephone which was once purchased for fifty dollars is worth nothing if a future buyer cannot be found; and so, the telephone, not any more regarded as an item worth fifty dollars, is now valued for its operative communication value. A lamp is valued for the light which it tenders to a room. A chair or a desk is valued for its operative use to the user.

The affair of appraising the value of provisions, money and things is part of rational self-interest; for a man who is oblivious of the goings on in his own treasury or who spends resources frivolously without exercising logic in the stewardship of his finances surely lacks the wisdom to appraise the more complex contents of his mind.

The rational man is a good financial steward. More than this, he is a sound mental steward. He works to ever remind himself to be of a sound mind, wisely controlling his thoughts. He does not allow himself to make conjectures and guesses at random, instead making sure that he is equipped simply with the armor of truth in regard to any matter which he engages.

The rational man is of notable reservation, always opting to ask a logical question or remain silent when in the presence of superior wisdom. He avoids social battles for which he is not prepared and begins to do something only after he has rationally come to understand it and is certain of a victorious result. He is a strategist, treating life as his game board. He is not a gambler, and he does not allow anything to cloud his rational judgment. In every situation, he asks only two questions: What is? What can be?

The rational mind embraces a new age of fascism. The enlightened man answers to no other man or power, building for himself an empire unto himself over which he has absolute and unequivocal control in every sense. In the name of rational self-interest, the free mind is unconquerable, seeking dominion and struggling for power in pursuit of eternal glory on a personal level and the opportunity to extend individual interests abroad to fellow citizens, throughout nations, and the world.

The rational micro-nationalist is, by nature, a self-fascist. His right to rule his mind is entirely totalitarian by nature, and in a society which suggests that the democratic majority should define the culture and mentality of his life, he reacts with absolute and unequivocal defiance, thrusting with passion the entirety of his unique convictions into a single front of opposition against any force which might dare to discourage the triumph of his will.

The rational micro-nationalist is sovereign. He gives no man or entity his true and unbreakable allegiance other than himself. Nevertheless, it is often in his best rational self-interest to cooperate, assist, support, and give to his nation civil allegiance. He may fight for his nation, and he may aid in the leading it, and in all of his life he may never betray it, but he is nevertheless separate from other men; for in his heart he retains the distinct knowledge that his service, his allegiance, and his duty is rooted in his free mind and is of his own accord; that all that he does he does entirely by choice for the purpose of serving his higher allegiance to himself and his reasons, whereby he is best enabled to achieve his sovereign intent.

The citizen who serves his nation without regard for rational self-interest is a slave to ignorance, allowing a ruler to rob him of his mind by surrendering his intelligence and self-purpose in the name of good civil behavior. The rational micro-nationalist is truly a citizen of his own self-made empire. Because he is mentally free, whether his body is in prison or his outward self is restrained he cannot be conquered. He cannot commit treason or be rightly charged with any true violation of law unless he violates the law of his own mind and conscience which he made to be a guide for his own conduct.

The rational micro-nationalist is morally immune from the laws of the land, for he makes his own. He may choose to cooperate with such foreign laws, or he may violate them at will and defend himself against the consequences as he is able. In either case, because he remains an agent of free mind, he regards his business with any entity beyond his own administration of power as one which is foreign, and thus remains morally free of the encumbrance of social guilt.

The rational micro-nationalist both demands and lends respect, treating his dealings with others with the same sobriety appropriate of a diplomat or expected to be shown between national leaders. He is predominantly peaceful, yet retains the right to declare war on his enemies, to use force or leverage as tools to protect his sovereign interests. He regards national unions with respect, but in his rational mind retains some skepticism, remaining cautious, lest foreign leagues of men threaten his independence or infringe upon his freedoms.

The rational micro-nationalist inevitably makes notes of certain things which oppose his interests, and he waits with patience for a time which is right for the offensive, when he may attack his foes and win.

THE BASIS FOR RATIONAL THOUGHT

It has been said that the greatest thing of importance is God, or Nation, or Family. It seems as if throughout the course of history and still today, endless argument and uncertainty surrounds the question of what the greatest and highest purpose of humanity is.

The ancient humans worshiped the stars and the animals, fearing the unknown. For many years men believed that the earth was flat; that beyond its edge and above them dwelt monsters and deities. Men struggled in part to survive and in part to understand, and great religions and nations sprung forth from their imaginations.

In the modern age many men concluded that in spite of thousands of years of asking the ultimate question, of fighting in the name of God or the ruler of the land, in spite of the many texts which were written and the countless philosophers who rose and fell, they had built skyscrapers and engineered computers, but still were confounded by the question of their own nature and purpose.

If we exist to serve ourselves, what gives ourselves value? If we exist to serve our Nation, what makes it better than any other? If we exist to pursue knowledge, what do we finally strive to accomplish with it? If we exist to serve God, what gives God value or meaning more than we ourselves? If we exist for the sole purpose of existing, then by what right may we attribute to our lives any value whatsoever?

These questions plagued the minds of men, leading some to forsake reason for madness or mindlessness, some to pursue the instinctive pleasures of life and abandon the finer points of classical philosophy and reason. Men everywhere questioned why they should lay down their lives in a world without purpose to serve ideas and things that, in the broadest possible sense, did not matter a single iota.

The carnal pursuits of passion and hate filled some temporary void in the minds of men, and they bought and sold, seeking to find purpose in dollars or gold, in the bustle of the marketplace or in some alcoholic substance; but the question still persisted. To what end do we exist, and what purpose should we fulfill?

Knowledge seemed as if it were a line beginning at a point of nothingness and travelling upward to the sky; and yet, no matter how far the line continued straight up into the sky, it still appeared no closer to reaching the limitless heavens. It was only in a new kind of reason that a new result could be achieved. That new reason was the revelation that knowledge is not linear, but rather a cycle, that the highest knowledge of man's purpose may be revealed through the most basic understanding of his existence, and that the rational mind can understand the logic of existence without mastering its hidden mysteries.

For thousands of years men believed that they were separate from the machines which they created, and that the earth was separate from both. The new rationalism understands that the machines created by mankind are a part, an extension, of mankind, and that both he and his creations are also a part of the earth; that the entire universe with him and his knowledge and creations included within its bounds is also a machine. The new enlightenment is reached by analyzing life as a machine which should be treated as a machine, and which should rely upon the same logic and reason of one.

The purpose of a machine is to fulfill that which it was designed for. In the case of humanity, the rational mind understands that we have been designed for two purposes:

1. Existence

2. Reason

We, together, are a machine. We as individuals are part of it. We rationally conclude that this machine is the product of a creator or architect, without which it could not exist. This we know because we rationally understand without doubt that no complex work or order may be formed without an architect.

We do not know the nature of the architect of the universe, and we do not need to understand the nature thereof to rationally explain our purpose. We do rationally understand that no machine is ever created without a purpose that is understood fully by its architect; nor allowed to exist if it fails that purpose.

Because we rationally understand that we, defined as the combined existence of all living things and elements, are a machine, we are forced to conclude that our purpose is to exist in the most efficient and non-problematic way possible. Because we realize that we each possess a rational mind, and because we further understand that the architect would not design the rational mind if the use of it was not part of the purpose of man, we further conclude without any doubt whatsoever that, in addition to merely existing, our second purpose is to utilize our rational minds.

We understand from our own experience that no machine is ever expected to understand what it is doing. It is expected to do what it is designed to do, and if it does, it is defined as fulfilling its purpose. Most machines do not possess consciousness or the ability to think rationally. Most machines are not self-replicating or self-sustaining either, as most rely on the maintenance of and operation by another. Unlike most machines, the human man or woman is able to think, to sustain, and continue existence.

We, the human race, are the only entity with the unique power of understanding machinery. Rationally, we understand that the architect of the universe itself must, having created such a machine, also be an entity of rational mind. We understand that the laws of nature do not change; that the same laws which govern a single story home and dictate whether it will stand or fall are also governing the highest skyscraper. Because of this, we know without doubt that we share a commonality with our creator; that we share the trait which is possession of rational mind.

We understand that every straight line must end, because we realize without any doubt whatsoever that there has never existed in the history of the world such an unending line, and because the world is a sphere, there cannot. We understand that everything must either end or return to the place in which it began. We rationally understand that this law, like gravity, or any other physical law, cannot be altered.

We realize that the architect of the universe itself must, to create this machine, be constrained to the same laws which govern it. We know this because we understand that in our entire history, we have never been able to create a machine that was not part of the same natural universe as ourselves.

We understand, because of all of this, that the architect of the universe must metaphorically represent the end of a circular line which is composed of a series of breakthroughs in understanding and progressions of reason, being the end result and final fruit of all reason and rational understanding. We understand that we, the universe, are the machine, and the architect of the universe is the maker of the machine.

Using the logic of circular reason, we reach the understanding that the end result of human knowledge and reason is the finality of entire understanding of the universe, the mastery of the law of creation, the understanding of the entire organism of universal existence. Thus, pure logic understands that humanity was created to become its creator, and that at the end of the cycle of universal life, it, being the creator of the universe, became mankind in the journey to complete once again the continued cycle of existence.

We exist for the purpose of discovering the truth. The continuance of the cycle of the universe relies on the eventual mastery of knowledge by the rational mind. Nevertheless, we understand from experience that one natural law of reason is that no action is taken, no machine built, no knowledge sought, without the incentive of a problem which must be cured, researched, or compensated for. In the human equation, death provides the basic incentive necessary to create reason for the rational mind to pursue with urgency the steps necessary to human evolution.

It is death which provides the human incentive to reproduce, whereby to continue the existence of humanity and pass on the information gathered in life. It is the urgency of limited time allotted to each person in which to live plied with the fact that the requirements of living require the adoption of vocations and the employment of reason, which creates an atmosphere for the rational human mind conducive to the pursuit of knowledge, to innovation, and to accomplishment.

If humans never died, there would be no society, for it is the understanding that family is the way whereby to continue lineage which motivates the rich interactions of community. Without death there would be no great monuments to the past, or books written, or computers designed to store vast sums of information. There would be no libraries. In the vast repository of the everlasting mind of men with eternal life there would be no motivation to any end, the ultimate boredom. Stagnant, humanity with limitless age would not do any of the things which lead to experiences which ultimately act as conductors for the evolutionary process of the rational mind to make discoveries and further the grand cycle of the universe.

Because we will die, we live our lives with passion, and because our survival depends upon innovation, we are ever conscious of our life and actions. The lessons which we learn on the path of life from birth to death make our evolution possible; and our desire to preserve that knowledge for future generations makes our evolution occur.

Thus, from all of this we understand that death, a process which was sometimes accepted without any rational thought given to it, and at other times was mourned as a curse, is in fact not death at all, but evolution and regeneration, the most basic proof of a circular timeline of the universe; a safeguard against complacency, a means to continued existence. Indeed, even as the last breath of man escapes him, the elements of his body are forming another to take his place and continue his duty.

We rationally understand that mysteries abound and many of our specific questions concerning the unknown are at this point not answerable. Nevertheless, we logically conclude that our understanding is sufficient to verify that we do serve a purpose which, in relation to ourselves as individuals, is of very great importance.

We logically reach the conclusion that the rational mind is our foremost tool and understanding our highest purpose. We understand that this truth implies many things concerning people, society, morality, politics, conflict, faith, and all other aspects of human life. We understand that we are building a great monument not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

We understand that higher understanding is not a force which liberates men from moral duties and from self-constraints. To the contrary, we rationally must conclude that liberation from moral and social dictates which are based upon myth, habit, or ignorant fear binds us instead to an even higher law of truth which should guide our life and actions.

In the light of this rational truth, and using as working tools our rational minds, we therefore live and reason to discern the manner in which we should govern our lives, each other, and our power of mind, body, spirit, and voice.

We establish this to be our purpose, our duty and calling; to sustain ourselves and each other for the purpose of rationally furthering our cumulative understanding.

The Left Pentagon Shaped Building is the Left House of Congress, which houses the Economic Administration.

Right Pentagon Shaped Building is the Right House of Congress, which houses the Military Administration.

The farthest complex of 21 buildings with 16 windmills and a statue on top houses the Judicial Ministry.

The two large Pyramid-shaped buildings and the Central Mall fall under the jurisdiction of the Cultural Ministry.

The tower at the central right houses the Stock Exchange.

At a later date, I will provide a more detailed outline of the usages of each building within the complex.

Periodically I compose short articles as part of my goal to write more in 2010, and since it seems like I never have a whole lot to post here, I have decided to start publishing them to my blog on a semi-daily basis as they become available.

108 - SIMPLE COMFORTS

An important trait to master is curiosity and the desire to explore. If that is the "Yin" in "Yin Yang" then I imagine that the "Yang" lies in learning to master the ability to mind your own business and enjoy being where you are doing what you are doing during the off time which often stands between great ventures of exploration and adventure.

As much as there is glory in the daring and unusual, reward in doing that which has never been done before, the simplest reward and virtue of all is found in not doing anything at all. I am talking about having the guts to enjoy what you have when there isn't really any dollars-and-cents reason to be out doing something.

I am talking about enjoying a day sitting in a chair drinking tea and watching reruns, writing a short story or maybe reading a few pages out of a book that was collecting dust on your shelf, and doing it with complete freedom, without trying to think about where you could be or what you could be doing, or fearing that you are missing out on something else.

Having fun in life is important because if you don't have fun, your life is on the rocks. It is just as important to have some balance in your fun though, and part of that balance includes, sometimes, doing nothing.

No habit or tradition, no matter how much fun it is, should be so rock-solid that you can't drop it for a while and draw satisfaction from something else. Find inner peace within. Don't use money to soothe a vacancy of purposeful feeling. Do things for the joy of doing them. Don't do things in an effort to mentally escape something. I've wasted lots of money and time going places trying to escape my life and buying things to try to forget my place in it. As far as buying goes though, the stuff that really lasts in the end is that which is bought out of genuine, happy desire, rather than the baser element of despondent feelings.

107 - TOUCHING THE HAND OF GOD

Next time you encounter someone, shake their hand, and introduce yourself into their life, consider that you may be looking into the face of God.

Treat you comrades as if they were divine. Treat your friends as if they are holy. Treat your fellow Citizens as if they are the living essence of Deity. I am not suggesting that they should be worshiped in the sense of prayer. I do believe that everyone should be respected deeply however, but that while relevant and of due interest is not my point.

My point is that by helping someone who you do not know, speaking to someone that you have never talked to before, encouraging a stranger, or even in the simple act of making a new friend, you may be making something possible.

You may be the tipping point in a person's life. Small things make big differences. Never underestimate the importance of a well placed smile or act of petty kindness. Remember that the people who are most influential in other people's lives are often influential without realizing that they have any influence at all.

Look at every encounter as if it might be providential. Act as if every circumstance might be an act of the divine, guiding you or someone else to that point for a purpose. If you assume that everything happens for a reason, you are less likely to send the wrong signal or foul up an opportunity to do something great.

If there is one thing that most people agree on about the way God should be served, it is that he should be treated with lots and lots of respect. If most people treated each other like they pretty much agree they should treat God, then in the end it seems probable that everyone would be a little bit holier, Godlier, and subsequently happier. Don't live for yourself. Live as a volunteer in the service of some higher purpose.

106 - RECOUNTING COSTS

Turn off your fear that your choices before are going to ruin your opportunities in the future. Look at your choices and opportunities now and judge again for yourself whether a life so rich and abundant with hope can possibly be as doomed or misguided as you fear. With certainty, I assure you that it cannot. Insomuch as you have reason to be glad for goodness in your life, with equal measure you have assurance that the efforts which have brought you to this point should be viewed as achievements and not setbacks.

On one hand it is easy for me to look at life with some regret, figuring all of the things that I could have had if I had done things differently, all of the prosperity which could have been mine if I would have lived less carelessly.

On one hand I find it natural to look at my life in terms of what I do not have yet wish I possessed, what I cannot do yet wish was within my power.

On the other hand I can't help looking at how much reward I have been benefited by, how much happiness has been mine, and how much glory I have been able to witness. I can't help marveling at how awesome my experience of living has been.

In a certain sense my life is wonderful just like it is, lived just as it has been. If that is the case, then I can't help recounting the costs and concluding that a few problems and stresses today or tomorrow are worth their trouble in exchange for their blessings, however lasting or temporary such might be.

If we stopped counting all the actions in our life that could possibly be viewed as mistakes and all of the things that could be seen as leading to poor outcomes, and instead established a document of all those things which we have done that in any manner inspired, improved, or gave cause for joy, our fears and doubts would end unequivocally.

105 - ON THE ROAD AGAIN

"I will keep driving. I will keep finding new streets that I have never driven down before. I will keep turning my head whenever I see an American flag waving from a porch or above a business, or at a public building. I will keep being moved in spirit by the opportunity to witness the glory of the Republic and the liberty which it represents."

One day I got up out of my chair at 2:00 in the afternoon and, being bored from sitting there too long, I travelled 50 miles into Seattle to get a cup of coffee. After that I drove about 200 more miles down to Portland, where I bought a hamburger.

As I was driving back home through a foggy valley somewhere between there and Olympia, I realized that I had just travelled 500 miles for a latte, a hot dog, and a sandwich, and enjoyed every minute of it. It occurred to me that it was the road itself that appealed to me, and the journey that was rewarding.

There is something liberating about driving down the road watching the little lines passing, and at a certain point I understood that one of my favorite pastimes is driving just for the sake of driving.

The reward of life is kind of like the reward of driving. It isn't the destination as much as the journey that is worthwhile. It is the journey that makes the destination worth going to.

I spent some time thinking about what is really uniquely American, and I kept coming back to the idea of the open road. The liberty and freedom, and the expectation that accompanies travel to new places reflect the same ideals as the spirit of our Nation.

I imagine that it takes a certain element of curiosity to drive a desire to go down the road looking for new places and sights, whether it is on a quiet afternoon touring an unexplored neighborhood, or a cross-country road trip. I think that being curious and excited about living is what makes America great.

America Indivisble

There will come a day when I am dead and my bones are turned to dust. There will come a day when no remembrance of me remains. I trust that the United States of America will not share my fate, however. I expect great things of this Nation in the future, and in a thousand years I trust that it will be no less visible and no less powerful than it is today. In six thousand years I want the monumental achievements of this unbreakable Republic to be undeniable and ever-present, like the pyramids of Egypt only more unmovable.

As long as the human spirit remains active in some form and I am in any manner living, there will be a flag bearing thirteen stripes and a union of blue which waves over the affairs of the world, dominates the business of mankind, and maintains social, domestic, and moral order upon the face of the Earth. Liberty and Justice will prevail well into the twenty-first century and beyond, and the classical virtues which the United States represents will continue to be promoted without regard to the superfluities of our time.

Life is But A Dream

We are often concerned with whether our perceptions are grounded in reality; but what if reality itself isn't grounded in reality? What if our lives are dreams, and when we dream we are experiencing true reality? What if we don't exist? We spend our lives trying to figure things out, and we analyze a huge amount of data, but in spite of all that accomplishment, we haven't yet even begun to tap into the matter or ask the question of what we are. We are a civilization and a grouping of life which, in the broadest sense thereof, whether Christian or Agnostic, Muslim or Buddhist, Scientist or Peasant, can agree only that it knows not where it came from or where it is going, what purpose it serves or will serve, or what its context is in the interface of the universe.

In the twenty-first century, more than ever before perhaps, faith is a necessary part of our society and life; because in the shadow of a magnitude of knowledge and technology, we have not gained any true insight into the nature of our existence other than the overwhelming knowledge of how little we know. The scientist, I believe, and the rational observer of facts, must be the most heavily reliant upon faith of all living human beings; because he studies with dilligence the nature of existence and esteems that the pursuit of fact and study of many phenomena does serve a purpose, but because his knowledge is incomplete, he can only guess - using faith blindly - as to what that true, higher order and meaning is.

I am firmly convinced that the true atheist who has laid aside all respect for God or the gods, and seeks out only the hardness and plainness of truth is, in fact, the most firmly grounded in a unquestionable understanding of Deity. Truly, the nature of this deity may be seen quite differently from the more classical varieties depicted in literature and religious contexts, but assuming that we define the regular belief in deity as the understanding or acknowledgement of higher truth, more complete knowledge, and the most supreme rule of the universe, then obviously one cannot behold science without also acknowledging deity. To do so would be as foolish as denying the existence of self. God is the most self-evident truth of the universe, and I say this most liberally, not as one given to religion at all.

As we ask the questions of existence and come to more light in our pursuit of truth, we cannot help face the superfluities of life with less overt paranoia and undue fervency. The things we want, the life we live, and the achievements which we dedicate our existence to become lesser sources of worry should we fail to achieve the desired objectives, while those matters which are of imagined importance to us yet seem unimportant in the more widely accepted sense retain their value in our eyes. When we realize how little we understand of the most supreme order and architecture - much less the architect - of the universe, we begin a journey of self-determination, defining our lives freely and breaking the chains which would seek to bind us.

Some things only medicine can cure. For everything else, there's Starbucks.

S T E P S T O S U C C E S S

1. Keep moving.

Nobody wants to hear about how you feel. Neither do you. If you are on the firing line, keep firing and forget about your stupid little feelings. If you are trying to get the job done, turn off those dumb emotions that make you act like a wimp under pressure.

2. Shut up.

Nobody cares about your opinions or your analysis. It doesn't help anybody. Stop explaining and just stick to the points. If a train is coming, tell me that a train is coming. If I need to know what number it is, tell me. Forget about what model the engine is or who the engineer is. Useless facts just mess with the brain and cause smokey murkiness where clearness is important.

3. Forget it.

I don't care if you could have done it better. Neither should you. Stop moaning about how your life could have been. Forget about your stupid arguments that don't matter and have no influence on getting the job done. If you have to be at work at 0900 hours, be there. If you were 15 minutes late yesterday, you sure as anything won't keep it from happening again by wasting a half hour today complaining about your mistake yesterday.

4. Stop anticipating.

I don't care if you win the lotto next week. You didn't win yet, and that is all there is to it. Stop talking about what is going to happen one day when your life goes somewhere that it isn't right now. Drop it and live right now. You aren't a millionare, so stop whining about how you want to be one. You aren't living ten years from now, so for goodness' sake, stop mumbling about the distant future.

5. Be Happy.

Put a smile on that gaping mouth. Hold your head up high and stop looking at the little bits of grass in the sidewalk. There is stuff to see, and you won't see it with that meaningless expression on your face while looking at your shoes. Happiness is a choice. Being happy is an activity that you can determine to engage in. Make it so.

Movie Review - "Legion"

3 of 5 Stars - Interesting movie, but not worth seeing again or buying on DVD.

I had the time yesterday and stopped to see this movie. I had planned to go to a Theatre downtown which was showing "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" but, deciding to avoid the $8.00 parking garage fee, opted for another theatre and wound up watching "Legion" instead.

The theme of the film is all about God getting ticked off at humanity and sending his angels down to earth, where they possess people. The possessed people then endeavor to destroy a pregnant woman and her child, which is born later on in the course of the film. God himself is not seen, and in spite of some pretty impressive graphics which show a couple of archangels angels flying and spreading their wings, almost the entire film is focused on possessed people speeding toward a gas station in the middle of the desert and being shot by the occupants of the filling station who remain holed up in there until, one by one, most of them die.

Somehow, the producers of this movie succeeded in making a rather blasphemous horror film which doesn't come across as religiously offensive or particularly scary. It actually has a moment or two, sandwiched between the almost comedic possessed people attack scenes, which talks about the virtues of humanity and goes to bat for the moral high ground of believing that humans don't really deserve being snuffed out. At the end it is made apparent that even God himself eventually comes to agree with this idea.

The plot could certainly have used some help. For example, we are told that humanity will end if these hordes of possessed people fail in their quest to destroy the unborn child of a woman who lives in a trailer near a rural gas station. Neither the woman or the infant, however, displays any special powers or shows signs of any specialness at all. The cause for the attack is, from a military point of view, pretty lame. We are talking about the apocalypse; the end of the world. If you are going to say that the whole Earth - all 7 billion folks - are going to be snuffed out, and it all depends on the life of one baby, it stands to reason that you - as a film maker - should probably spend at least a minute or two explaining how, exactly.

If I were one of the Archangels in charge of the snuffing out humanity job, I would have been interested in knowing why. That is more or less the premise of the film, actually. Archangel Michael doesn't seem to really know why God wanted to end humanity, and since he can't figure out why, he decides to hijack a police car and go hang out at the gas station where he can help hold the fort against the coming invasion, which is led by Archangel Gabriel, who is cool with killing off humanity because he was told to do that.

Actually, the entire plot of the movie "Legion" seems to be more or less based on the idea of God having a really bad day and deciding to end the world, but deciding later on that it is to much hastle and changing his mind. In the end, the woman and her amazingly important baby are seen cruising off down the road. Who, exactly, is going to clean up all of the crunched cars piled up around the gas station which were put there by the masses of possessed people drivers, is not made clear. Neither is it made clear where the sacred baby is going to live.

We are led to believe that, while the baby was important for all of the heavens (and maybe a little bit of hell) to try to do away with in an all out battle to end humanity, as long as it lives it is O.K. if it is supported by welfare and gets raised in a crummy trailer, or better yet, on the streets and alleys of Chicago or something. Movies are supposed to have a redemptive sort of theme to them in the end, usually, unless their whole point is to end badly. This one implies a happy ending, but it doesn't bother to tell us what happens to the baby that the whole movie was built around. The car driving happily into the sunset is fine and dandy, but since the homey camper trailer got torched, nobody is really sure where the car was actually going. Of course, by that time an hour and a half had gone by, and nobody cared.

Considering all of the reasons I provided as a case for the lameness of this movie, I am surprised that I still give it 3 stars and declare it to be entertaining. It really was quite watchable, and I at no point while watching it felt bored. It wasn't something that I would have gone out of my way to see, but on the spectrum overall, it wasn't really that bad.

2010.01.31 - JANUARY MONTH END REPORT

139,200 soldiers are currently fighting on the Eastern Front. This is a decrease of 20,405 troops from the December 2009 end-of-month total of 159,605. Howardian forces are currently fighting 141 miles west of the Russian border, 391 miles away from victory in Moscow, the capitol of Russia. This month, 74 miles of ground was won from enemy control.

In accordance with the 2010 troop surge plan, an additional 66,600 combat troops will be deployed in February. All of Howardia's strategic analysts presently agree that solid victory will occur before year end.

GOING BY BICYCLE

There is something exhilarating about hitting the road on a bicycle. Every time I pry myself out of my chair (whether the chair in my office or the one in my vehicle) and start peddling, I feel a little closer to the meaning of America. Today I thought about going down to the Borders Books, Music, & Cafe for my typical escape from the monotany of that which is my life. This time, however, I bicycled instead of driving. It saved gas, and as I coasted by a half-mile-long line of cars waiting at the intersection down the street, I couldn't help noticing the difference in my perspective and imagining how differently I would feel if I was one of those drivers.

I left at 2:30 PM. I got to the coffee place about an hour later. After wandering around at the Best Buy for a few minutes, I bought Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" on DVD, and started making my way home. As a cyclist, I made eye contact and waved at cars and people that I passed. When you're going down the side of the road on a bike, it isn't that hard to say hello to somebody checking their mail. Obviously, you can't do that while driving. At about 5:30, the smell of Americans cooking their dinner fills the air. With the windows rolled up and passing the world at 35 MPH minimum, I wouldn't have ever known; and as the sun set, I pulled out my camera to catch a shot of the countryside.

When I got home, about 4 hours after I left my house, I realized that I was a whole lot better of mentally, in addition to feeling better physically; and I had shaken off feelings of being isolated. I got to thinking: If I live in a metropolis of 3+ Million people, but never even see them because I am always in the house or in the car, I've taken the first step toward isolation; one which stifles patriotism and society.

We should take active steps to become more involved in the community. I am not talking, necessarily, about more responsibilities. After all, we all have plenty of those. I am talking more about slowing things down and doing things that get you out of your routine; which make you notice things that you wouldn't notice before.

I realized recently that there are lots of streets in my own home town which I have never even travelled down. I drive by them all the time, but I never take the time to drive on them even once. When tourists visit a foreign city, the first thing they do is start exploring. I started wondering what I would find if I decided to become a tourist in my own hometown, instead of being just one of the many thousand who "live there."

In 2010, it is my resolution to find new ways to discover what America is, and to get involved in the lives of the people of America. Politics is the last half of the journey. The first half is being a patriot and getting to know the country itself.

WHEN I SPEAK OF REVOLUTION

I call on my fellow Americans to prepare for a revolution, and I call myself to do no less; but when I say "revolution," I pray that it be a bloodless and most peaceful variety; because as much as I esteem those who have died on the battle field in wars both civil and foreign, their sacrifice is an honor which I should like to view and cherish through the scope of history rather than the pain of repetition.

We should seek to work together to build a parapolitical force which is capable of enacting sweeping changes through displays of will; but it should always be our desire to avoid the concept of paramilitary force, or any movement that decrees violence as a method whereby we may achieve our National interests.

It must be core to the movement of individual, sovereign citizens, that while we are willing to fight and even die in the service of our Nation and comrades, we are a people with a strong civil desire for peace. We are not a people who build their dreams upon conquest, but rather on the rights of free people to ensure their continued sovereignty, and that of future generations.

Our war is not against any individual or nation, but against debt of all kinds, and servitude of all varieties. In the twenty-first century, we make our priority battlefield a war of ideals and principles; but excepting only the most unavoidable skirmishes, we wish to fight our wars by example and not by force.

Today's Additions to Howardia On-Line included the National Gallery and Howardia General Information sections. I am excited about the potential of this new website, which I hope will start attracting some significant traffic before the end of 2010.

A TOPIC OF THE DAY

Today I am once again reminded of the core values upon which Howardia was founded. Dear to me is the principle of being free to say the truth instead of things that are expected, as is the core virtue of living a life which is unreproachable.

Too many people live their lives fearing exposure of some sort, choosing their conversations and actions on a basis of what they feel is expected of them instead of what they feel called to do.

Calling isn't about the devine. It is about following dreams and ideas that naturally flow out of a person's spirit if that person doesn't clamp a lid down on their own ability to innovate.

It is hard to stand up in front of a crowd of people and give them a speech if you plan it all out before you get up, rigidly expecting to read off some script. It is hard to deliver a speech, or even come up with anything to say, if you are trying to build your dialogue around what people want or expect to hear.

If you stand up and just speak the truth, simply and plainly, not using any fancy posturing or big words that don't need to be used, and you make a case for the bottom line thing which you are trying to communicate, then you don't need to try hard to succeed. Your actions are led by inspiration.

The ability to take action means Duty, The suggestion of greatness means Illusion, and Individualism is a form of Government.

IF A MAN IN PRISON HAS A WINDOW IN HIS CELL, should he stand and look out of it silently, or speak from it, or in his despair ignore it?

I say that he should not only speak, but shout. He should declare his message with such vision that those without the prison wall will throng the gates in demand of his liberation.

Aggression is the only way for the rational to gain respect; and when I say aggression, I am not talking about the kind that draws blood or breaks bones. I am talking about the assertion of absolute confidence in the face of odds which are at best less than inspiring.

Unfortunately, great leaders always build their careers upon public lies. It is taken fore-granted that the masses will not respect or pay any attention to honest facts; and so the ideal of charasmatic leadership is born. It is the art of telling people what they want to hear and making them believe that it is the truth; that of maintain their confidence long enough to achieve your individual, self-serving interests, and escaping in a timely and graceful fashion without them realizing that they cast their faith in someone no more worthy than themselves.

If we may with confidence conclude that most leadership is based upon a system in which individuals take fore-granted their inferior ability to govern and therefore idolize what they esteem as heroism superior to their own, then we may also conclude that the key to the moral leadership of all human institutions rests in making individuals naturally believe in their own judgement and thusly cementing the concept which declares all men and women free and sovereign agents, without need of aid from foreign or higher power, utterly reliant on their own integry and intelligence.

In commemoration of the biennium of the Howardian declaration of independence, a new building has been constructed on the Howardian Capital Campus. The 150-story superstructure is over 2,500 feet tall, standing west of the cultural district. Unveiled today and scheduled to open on the 13th, it will be the new home of the Howardian Library of Congress, the Howardia Investment-Return And Commercial Administration (HIRCA), and the HCSE and HOCAX Stock Exchanges, which are HIRCA Subsidiaries.

On the war front, sizeable victories at key strongholds brought our troops - briefly - within 50 miles of the border of Russia. While the toll of war remains fierce, Howardian citizens have thusfar been shielded from the major inconveniences of war on the homefront, and morale is rising as victory comes measurably closer.

The wartime rationing program was revised, and a renewed version of it was brought to the floor of Congress this week, which enabled and ratified home front measures to aid the war effort on the Eastern Front.

HOWARDIAN BIENNIUM APPROACHES!

Almost two years ago, on January 13, 2008, I launched the first initiative of what eventually was to become the MicroNation of Howardia.

Due to the pressures of the war front, celebrations cannot be lavish. I am, however, anticipating the unveiling of a new website to mark this auspicious event.

Over the last two years, Howardia's micro-national law has been continually refined, its emblems employed have grown exponentially, and the Capitol Project has established Daventry as the imperial ideal of the Commonwealth.

As any serious Micro-Nation must be, this one involves a good deal of fun, but it is also an entirely serious endeavor. Howardia seeks to set forth a political ideal of, among other things, individual sovereignty.

The Commonwealth of Howardia of the United States of American Republics (CHUSAR) hails the comming biennium and the ideals of freedom upon which it was founded, establishing January 13 of each year as Howardian Independence Day and marking January 13 of 2010 the first such celebrated day in our history.

From this point onward, the Howardian War is henseforth renamed, The Howardian War of Independence.

AMBIENCE

In the spirit of business as I have come to know it, there is one thing that I feel more important than anything else. It is the ambience of Starbucks at mid-day; the richness of a book store in the evening.

It is the comfortable, confidential, professional, and gracious demeanor of the business man. We know not the nature of his business necessarily; nor the volume of his wealth. We know nothing of his nature, other than the self-evidence of the way in which he carries himself and conducts his actions.

It is the spiritual power of capital; the defining element of business-centrism. The very nature of business often seemingly hard to define is the quality of placing profit first. It is the spirit of always keeping one's options in plain view in full array.

The spirit of business is not a great deal different than the spirit of a great general or leader of warriors. Unlike the warriors, he never stops looking at the bigger picture. He does not in the same way find himself susceptible to the morale problems of fighting men. The battle for him is less personal and more professional; less a fight for life, and more a game of grand strategy.

In his mind he separates himself from the pain of the battlefield or life, and creates an atmosphere of peace and aura of wealth which he immerses his higher mental powers in; and so, he lives like a king with the ambience of success, and through immediate or eventual courses of time and effect, he overcomes.

It comes to my attention that in the face of difficulties which are not at all insurmountable, no action is taken. I am talking about the discouragement of human spirit.

There is a condition wherein one may say to another, "If we do not stand and fight, all that we know will be lost." In reply, the other will say; "What do I have to lose?

For what shall I sacrifice my soul in the service and defense of? I see nothing, and so I will quietly await my death in the hopes that it shall come with relative ease."

I see the glazed eyes of a man who has just survived a terrible accident. The fires burn around him on every side. The screams of death and pain can be heard everywhere, but he does not seem to notice them. He doesn't see anything, or even feel particularly aware of himself. The world may burn to the ground around him, and he will not stop it.

I am inclined to point out that what we really need isn't more help. It is the encouragement to find purpose in our lives. If we really feel like we have a cause worth living grandly for, and worth sacrificing everything for, we will find ourselves able to do anything.

On the other hand, our great risk is too often that of getting to a point where we just don't care anymore. We imagine that great Empires have fallen apart because of the power of their enemies, or the failure of their politics. What we overlook is that their demise always begins with their peoples' loss of a sense of purpose.

I want you to deliberately seek out everything which serves as a source of fear in your mind, and I command you to face it until its sting and terror is subdued. You must never do anything twice. The risk in anything is always that once you start getting used to your life or duty, it starts coming naturally. You begin acting like an automaton and stop innovating. You stop having the fresh, frenzied excitement which accompanies a first time experience. That is why you must work yourself into a form of frenzy, and shield yourself from all memory of the past. You must always be searching for new dynamics to your circumstances which you have not found before. If the time ever comes when you cannot find any new ways of looking at your life, or your job, or those around you, that make them interesting and fresh, you must cut all ties that hold you back and move on to something completely different.

COMPLETELY NEW STUFF

I was looking up at the old, traditional brick building which stands in the shadow of the Washington Mutual Tower downtown Seattle. I saw something more than just two buildings. I saw something really allegorical of my life.

The year I was born, the Washington Mutual Tower opened. It was one of Seattle's first modern skyscrapers. It marked the era of steel and glass, which forever changed architecture. In the days before its time, stone was the preferred medium of choice, and the styles which accompanied such masonry structures.

Through my eyes, the old style of building blends into the background as a less significant and outdated representative of a past era; a time when a ten or twenty story building was considered something big, and a time when the business that would have taken up residence there would have been considered equally large.

That era was a time before Starbucks was considered part of the business lifestyle. It was before the sleek and ever professional atmosphere of high-tech business was the norm.

What really hit me is that my generation is unique, because all of the progress that I see and consider a permanent fixture in life is viewed by those older than me as something more of an accomplishment. The super tall buildings viewed by me as common are viewed by the last generation as outlandish. The Starbucks viewed by me as fore-granted is viewed by the last generation as an extra, pitifully unimportant luxury.

That is why youth is so important. It is a time when fresh, new ideas are right there in the front of the mind waiting to be jumped upon and ridden to success. It is a time when everything in life is welcomed and understood. The element of oldness which sometimes comes inevitably and other times is self-inflicted is the spirit which grows tired of evolving and changing, and stops accepting the new. It sticks to what it finds old and familiar, and leaves its inventions in the hands of tomorrow's generation.

I find myself in a constant and extreme struggle. I find myself in an almost constant position to be, if not absolutely careful, normal. With a huge amount of passion and focus hammered into every second, it is possible to find in every moment something of terrifying power and beauty, and greatness. It is in an absolute unwillingness to consider anything commonplace that true life is found, and the death of mind and soul is averted.

DECEMBER FIFTEEN

REAFFIRMATION OF ENLIGHTENMENT

We write today a reaffirmation of the firmness of our declaration of war. We state again this self-evident truth because we understand that sometimes even the plainest of facts can be stained by forgetfulness.

We will not be content to merely accept our fate, or to live the lives which we are expected to live. We will not strive simply to be content or achievers of moderate success. We declare an open assault against everything that is normal.

We forge a new State. We consider everything that is not outstanding to be an enemy of us. That which does not inspire a vision of greatness equal or more so than the greatest monument of stone or steel ever constructed, we will bring that vision to the dust and destroy it, and build something new in its place.

If there is a second in our lives when we do not feel as if we are surrounded by the greatest music ever written, we will tear apart that moment and rebuild it from the millionth of a second unto the fullness thereof, and we will not rest.

If there is anything which we are a part of that might be seen through our eyes or the eyes of someone else as anything less than absolutely and entirely glorious, we will stop and tear down the entirety of our own lives until we find the offending element.

We, the enlightened, declare war on all oppression. We are free. We are proud. We define freedom as something more fluid than just a state of government in the realm of land and property. We understand it as a power of the mind.

No chain can halt the freedom of man. No circumstance can stifle the vision thereof. Nothing can take away the spirit of power and authority. We are unconquerable, and we repeat this as an all-important virtue which every force within us and without must acknowledge and accept.

There is victory. There is defeat. In our spirit and soul, there is no middle ground.

Massively Effective Small Affects

I am standing on the corner of Fourth and Pine, looking up at the Macy's Christmas Star which shines and towers ten stories above me.

In a very simplified sense, I could say that I am here because I applied to work at Macy's and showed up at work. That is a boring way to look at it, and misses the critical and detailed examination which drives home the point I am making here, which is how much power each of us has knowingly or unknowingly to dramatically alter the course of an individual's life.

The truth is that I am standing here because of the actions of a Nordstrom Associate who sold me a bottle of cologne, and a Wal-Mart shopper who asked me to sell him a pack of cigarettes. There are many other people who played roles in charting my destiny over the last twenty-or-so months, but these stand out because while they are seemingly trivial, without them the course of that time would have been radically different.

The catalyst event which brought me to the place where I stand began on a typical afternoon that I had off from work at Wal-Mart. I stopped at Fry's Electronics in Renton and purchased some computer accessories. I then drove north to the Bellevue Square, and wandered into Nordstrom. I had no plan to make any purchase there, but was drawn out of the main isle by an employee who smiled, acted like she was excited to be there, offered me a compliment, and insisted that I extend my hand to try the cologne which she was holding.

At that time, which was the beginning of 2008, nice department stores were something that I had not spent very much time around. After being hired at Wal-Mart a year before, I had immersed myself in that company's discount chain culture and been surrounded by Wal-Mart employees who had little respect for themselves or customers.

The idea of individual, personal service was impressive to me. A few minutes later, I bought a bottle of cologne Tom Ford from that friendly lady who worked at Nordstrom, and because of her outstanding service decided to walk upstairs to look at suits as well. I was further taken by the stellar service and treatment which I received in the men's suit department, and walked out of the store which I had entered having planned to spend nothing holding receipts for over $1,000 worth of merchandise.

I was determined to bring that amazing customer experience back to work with me at Wal-Mart. I researched the Nordstrom Company, and started trying to offer the positive customer service which I received there to the customers at my store.

One day not long after, I was standing at cash register at Wal-Mart when a man with a full cart of groceries approached me. After I rang up his groceries, he asked for a package of cigarettes. Commonly followed policy suggested that I should send him back to the end of the express lane behind which cigarettes were located, where he would wait a second time in a long line. I refused to do this, and proceeded to obtain his pack of smokes which were about 15 feet away from where I was standing at that time. My plan was to save him substantial time by adding them to his current grocery transaction. He appreciated this motion, but my management did not. They reacted to my obstinate defense of that customer's time by firing me later in the day.

I lost my job at Wal-Mart. It was my first real job, and until the moment I was escorted from the building, I had plans to make it my career. I lost my job because I had been inspired by the customer service of a Nordstrom Associate, and because of one random customer who asked me for a pack of smokes.

As a result, I was later hired by Macy's. Many other things happened which led me here. I would not, however, be here if those two people were not involved in my life at the precise moments when they were, and had not done exactly what they did. They changed the course of my life.

They do not know that they changed anyone's life. As far as they are concerned to this day, it was a day at work and a trip to the store. I am one of the many faces which they saw and likely forgot before they went to sleep that night.

Because of them I was given the opportunity to work at the Flagship Downtown Seattle Macy's. Because of them, my childhood dream of working downtown came true. Because of them, I chose to pour my efforts into high end consumer retail instead of the baser discounter variety.

If that is true, then it is also true that a Department Store Associate's $83 Fragrance Sale and a Wal-Mart Customer's $8 Cigarette Purchase are coincidentally 100% responsible for causing the best era of my life.

If less than $100 in sales and less than 15 minutes of a Department Store Employee's time can change the course of the following two years of a customer's life, imagine how much change can the affected by the average employee who spends eight hours a day on the job, and sells thousands of dollars a day to hundreds of customers every week.

UNLIKE THE NAZI EMPIRE

We, in addition to being murderous and harmfully self-serving, have the profound advantage of being better liars.

Convincing ourselves of our own lies, we use evidence of our own self-deception as proof that we are self-evidently just.

I do not ask that this change. I only suggest that those who desire power, or success, or happiness, realize that it is true and adjust their actions accordingly.
